Designing Patient-Centered Information Displays

Description

With Dan Morris, Desney Tan, and Eric Horvitz at Microsoft Research, and Justin Gatewood at MedStar Institute for Innovation, I conducted a field study at an urban Emergency Department, to learn more about how to design appropriately-detailed abstractions of EMR information for patients to view during their clinical visits. This work was followed by research on how to use web-based resources to generate short "micro-explanations" of medical events, suitable for real-time delivery to patients, to explain lab tests in their electronic medical record.
